The Shop at the Barn is open:Thursday through Sunday10 am to 6 pm, with early closure at 4 pm January and February.Phone (509) 229-3414The mission of Artisans at the Dahmen Barn is to nurture the creativity of local artists by providing a place to showcase and sell their work, and to bring regional fine and folk art to the public. Items sold in the shop are either made by regional artisans, are about the Palouse or are made from products of the Palouse. A wide range of work from nearly 100 artists is represented at the shop.The Shop at the Barn is operated by Julie Hartwig. She managed the Lewis-Clark State College Center for Arts and History gift shop for 8 years in Lewiston prior to opening the retail space in Uniontown August 2006. Hartwig is experienced in exhibit installations, organizing events and fund raisers and catering, so is an important member of the team which promotes the work of regional artists and craftspeople at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn. The Shop at the Barn has all your favorite local food products perfect for stocking stuffers or filling a Palouse themed gift basket. We can make up gift baskets and ship them. Just give Julie a call at 509-229-3414.Always popular is a variety of soup mixes from local products and several flavored local honeys. Traditional favorites have been rubs and BBQ sauces with the Ranch Hand logo, U of I logo, or WSU logo, made in Uniontown. New this year are local jams and jellies and Priest River huckleberry products. For the person with the sweet tooth on your list we have Cowgirl Chocolate in many flavors and handmade caramels from local dairy cows.The weather outside is frightful! Curl up in an alpaca blanket and read a good local history book. We have the just-released "Images of Pullman" and "Reflections on the Road, A Journey through Whitman County past and present". "Story of Hells Canyon and the Middle Snake" will get you through those long winter nights. And if you must go outside, keep warm with toasty alpaca socks.
