Artist Statement

Quilting is my passion. I create unique original designs inspired by nature, color, fabric and images that "appear" from paints and threadwork.

I started quilting using traditional patterns and techniques. However, my vision was to quilt beyond the flat surface and I soon began to explore three dimensional elements in my quilting by manipulating fabrics, yarn, beads, threads and silk floral to create unique elements.

My usual way to start a creation is with an idea I have in my head. I do not draft, I just start laying out the elements and begin the creation. My favorite work is to create floral or landscape scenery quilts but recently I have been developing more collages and abstract creations.

As you view my work, I hope you will enjoy my choice of color and feel the love I put into each creation.

An original design fiber art wall hanging titled "After the Storm" is one of the lastest creations of Jennifer Whitted.
This wall quilt has three dimensional flowers made of felt, the centers are beads and the snow was added with another layer of white felt. The leaves are from silk florals and have been attached to the surface thru the centers with threads and fibers.
