Friends of the Barn

The Uniontown Community Development Association, the non-profit public development authority run by volunteers that was the visionary and implementer of the art center idea, completed the re-construction with private donations, grants from a variety of public agencies and thousands of volunteered hours. Therefore, there are no mortgage payments on the facility. This enables UCDA to promise the participating artisans the lowest possible rental rates. The operating budget is a "make ends meet" budget, with no profit built in.

A Friends of the Barn foundation will be developed to provide ongoing support of the facility and its programs. Two capital projects will need to be funded: a hardwood surface for the Hay Loft Hall for dances, and the elevator to make the entire building accessible. Future plans to develop the agriculture museum and the outdoor amphitheater will also include fund raising.

Until the foundation is set up, donations may be made to Artisans at the Dahmen Barn through the Uniontown Community Development Association, UCDA. All donations are tax deductible and donors may specify a specific use for the funds. Donors may mail checks made to UCDA to P O Box 36, Uniontown WA 99179. A written receipt will be sent, and donors will be listed on the website unless they request otherwise.

The Adopt-a-Wheel Program was begun March 2007. For information on this opportunity to support Artisans at the Dahmen Barn, go to the Adopt-a-Wheel page on this site.
