Barney Saneholtz
Art has been a part of my life since I began to draw and paint around the age of 10 under the tutorage of Harriett Harper in Northwest Ohio.A backpacking trip in the Rocky Mountains in high school guided me to college at the University of Idaho. My work during the many summers with the USFS near West Yellowstone and Mt Rainier, and ultimately settling on the beautiful Palouse for 35+ years has inspired my artwork of the Western U.S. landscape. I have been blessed with a wife and family that loves to camp, fish, hike, raft and travel the land. I hope my love of the great outdoors can be seen in both my plein-aire painting and studio work. My desire is to have you become a part of my painting through appreciation of form, light and color!Since retiring my current medium is primarily in pastels with earlier work in oil, watercolor, and pen and ink. Since retiring my work is primarily in watercolor and pastels with an added interest in completing more plein aire paintings. I have exhibited my paintings in various shows throughout the Inland Northwest including The ‘Snake River Showcase’ at the Valley Art Center in Clarkston, WA, the Vineyard Plein Air Compition in the Center for Arts and History in Lewiston, ID and annual Artwalk displays in Moscow, ID and Pullman, WA. You may see my current work at my studio in the ‘Artisans of the Dahmen Barn’ in Uniontown, WA.
